Festival To Be Held April 18-20 In Santa Fe,

Santa Fe, NM - The National Tribal
Environmental Council is delighted to announce the celebrity guest
at its first annual Global Green Indigenous Film Festival will
be acclaimed actress Tantoo Cardinal.
Widely acknowledged as being the most recognizable Aboriginal
actress of our time, Ms. Cardinal is of Métis descent and
was born in Alberta, Canada. She has appeared in over fifty films
and television series, including "Dances with Wolves",
"Legends of the Fall" and "Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman".
Ms. Cardinal has been honored with numerous awards, among them
the National Aboriginal Achievement Award, Wind and Glacier Voices
Festival Lifetime Achievement Award, Rudy Martin Award for Outstanding
Achievement by a Native American in Film, Toronto Women in Film
and Television Outstanding Achievement Award, and the Harvard
Film Archive Sun Hill Award for Excellence in Native American
Filmmaking. Ms. Cardinal is also an activist and author.
"Tantoo's commitment is an endorsement of immense significance
as we prepare to launch our first annual Global Green Indigenous
Film Festival," says Veronica Tiller, Film Festival Coordinator.
"Her recognition of the Festival's importance will help establish
it as the premier event in film, environmental and Indigenous
circles."
Ms. Cardinal joins a number of high-profile organizations who
are contributing to the Festival's buzz. The Film Festival is
being hosted by the National Tribal Environmental Council and
co-sponsored by New Mexico Tourism Department and Jicarilla Apache
Nation. Partners include the National Geographic All Roads Film
Project, NM Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Santa Fe,
Institute of American Indian Arts and NM Film Museum.
Ms. Cardinal will speak at the opening night reception April 18th,
5:00 pm at Hotel Santa Fe. The Festival is April 18 - 20 in Santa
Fe, NM.
